New Look Photo

We had our second orientation session yesterday, a good opportunity to take a better lit team photo! =) Now we can actually see Sam!

So, after being given more homework to do before the next session in September, we are now also all armed with boxes and bars of chocolates and Starbursts to sell. Please buy some from us when you see us next! We're relying on people with a sweet tooth and a few bits of loose change to help us get to the CAR!!

Homework time!

Menim attam Des! Rakmat!

The fun is starting! I hope you enjoyed running around achieving the tasks of the culture challenge, as well as the Uighur dinner! Thanks Matt for resisting the temptation to smoke the apple bong! And it was interesting to see that Jo memorised parts of the book "From Monogamy to Polygamy", just weeks before her wedding!

Anyway, there is much work to be done! Just a reminder of the task list for this week:

  1. Send your police check, 2 passport photos and a $100 cheque to I/S.

  2. Research topic on CAR for this Sunday's culture session.

  3. Prepare your supporters' brochure.

  4. Form your support team of 10 people.

  5. Continue your journalling - starting with the expectations questions.

  6. Think of more fundraising ideas.

  7. Think of ministry ideas - both for the team and for yourself.

Now - stop reading blogs and surfing the net, and get down to work!

We go Uighur

Turkish for lunch, then a scavenger hunt up and down the main drag of Auburn, we then found ourselves early last night at a Uighur restaurant near Chinatown. Verdict? Cheap eat, great food.

Tea anyone?

More to come later!

Postcard Printing

A friend of mine o/s referred me to an online printing site the other day as a suggestion when I was lamenting that I had no idea where to start where creating a brochure was concerned. The company has brochure templates you can use, but you can't save and copy them and print them on your own printer at home and thus is quite expensive. However, there's a promo at the moment that's been extended until 8th August where you can get them to print 50 oversized postcards or 100 standard sized for FREE!!! Perhaps we could print our team card this way, or our own personal cards for our STM this way. (Postage is NOT free though!) Just an idea!
