Supporters' Info Night

The team were really encouraged to see so many of our supporters turn up to our supporters info night, held at church. This is some of what happened:

Des learnt to speak Russian while wearing a Kyrgyz hat, and dazzled everyone with this amazing feat


We decorated the hall with some traditional Kyrgyz hats, rugs and musical items, and even attempted to make the hall feel like we were in a yurt, but it didn't quite work.


The plov, unnfortunately, turned to goop, but it tasted nice...

Despite goopy plov however, I think we would all agree that those of us on the team, and those who turned up last night were mutually encouraged, as the team got to share about why we're going on this trip; what we hope to be able to see and do there; and how much we're learning as a team and as individuals; about this world and how God sees it; and what our supporters can be praying for specifically.

The Countdown Begins

This is the current wall of chocolate we're trying to get through selling at the moment! (Sorry, dodgey photo stitching job!)

It's all beginning to feel quite real now. Our airfares were all paid for today, we're getting our vaccinations done (hopefully??!) we're shopping for the best price and cover for travel insurance, and a few of us are still frantically shopping around in camping stores looking for warm stuff at a discount (how Asian are we??!)

Next on the agenda is our Supporters' Info Night which is this Saturday at 7:30pm. All quiet on the Western Front...

... not. It looks like none of us have posted anything for a while. It may look like there's been nothing happening, but let us assure you that there's been much going on with Team CAR! Two of us got married last week and are currently on their honeymoon(I hope you're having a great time, guys, and if you're reading this, then that's really sad! So get off the computer and enjoy the sights and chill!); we're waiting for more chocolates to be delivered (and ordered!); the team has been officially approved by our sending agency, so it's all systems go; we now have a better idea of what we're going to get stuck into once we're there... tasks include shovelling coal, giving health and nutrition talks, sex ed talks, appearing as guests on a radio programme, and anything else in between!; and this morning, those of us who could make it, turned up to our church's mother ship to give Cerisie, our spokeswoman some moral support, as she shared with our congregation at the 9am service the what, who, where and when of our trip.

So what's next? Coming up will be our Supporters' Info Night on 29th Sept. In between now and then, that's what we'll be working on, so that if you're coming, we'll be able to whip up some local cuisine for tasting, and keep our supporters informed on our fundraising progress and outstanding needs.
